Original green cloth, lettered in gilt and with a microscope in gilt on the upper cover, t.e.g., other edges uncut. Two minor marks on the upper cover, inner hinges just cracking, minor foxing on the first and last two leaves, otherwise a very good copy of this handsome book.

FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. “…the English translation is a particularly handsome volume of 382 large pages. A part is devoted to the preparation of objects, and six types of microtome are included. This work remains one of the classics of microscopy” (Bracegirdle, History of microtechnique, p. 52).
